Jean MargaretO'ROURKEJean Margaret O’Rourke passed away peacefully in Royal Blackburn Hospital on Wednesday, November 4 after a short illness. She was the wife of the late Donald, a much loved mother of Michael, Martin, James, Damian, John and the late Sarah. She was also a devoted grandmother of 19 and great-grandmother of seven. Jean was also a dear mother-in-law of Carol, Rosy, Jane, Barbara and Kate. Jean was a primary school teacher for most of her working life. She was also an active member of St Anne’s Catholic Church, Accrington. She loved listening to music, especially choirs and spiritual music. She was an avid reader and also enjoyed writing and reading poetry. She enjoyed watching historical period dramas on TV. Jean was a real people’s person and loved nothing more than to socialise with family and friends. Along with her late husband Donald, she enjoyed many holidays to Scotland and the Scottish Islands. Requiem Mass will take place on Monday, November 16 at 10.40am at St Anne’s R.C. Church, Accrington, followed by committal at Accrington Crematorium. (Numbers of mourners are restricted due to Covid-19). Family flowers only, but donations in memory of Jean may be made to East Lancs Hospice c/o funeral director Hyndburn Funeral Services, Accrington.
