EricOWENPassed away peacefully in hospital, surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday 20th January at the remarkable age of 102.
Beloved husband of the late Katie, devoted father of David and the late Richard, dear father-in-law of Heulwen and Jeanette, very proud and loving Taid to Emma, Andrew, Wendy, William and Stephen, greatly loved hên Taid of Thomas, Luke, Grace, Huw, Jasmine and Scarlett, and dear brother of Jean and the late John.
During World War 2, Eric served in the Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm as an Air Mechanic Airframe on aircraft carriers on Atlantic and Arctic convoys. He also served in the Mediterranean and took part in the South of France invasion. He was awarded the 1939 -1945 Star, Active Service Star, Italy Star, Loyal Service Badge, Atlantic Star, Arctic Star, the 70th anniversary medal, Ushakov Medal and the Legion D'honneur - for his part in the D-Day Landings.
Eric was an inspiration to his family and he will be greatly missed. Eric's family would like to thank relatives, friends and neighbours for all their kindness and sympathy at this sad time.
A private funeral took place at Flintshire Crematorium.
