George GrenvillePHILLIPS15th August 1928 to 19th February 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that our dad, George Grenville Phillips, known as Grenville, passed away at the Countess of Chester Hospital on Wednesday, February 19th, at the age of 96.

His presence in our lives was a constant source of strength and joy.

Born in Carmarthen, South Wales,
to Harold and Margaret Phillips on August 15, 1928, Grenville was a twin to Denzil. He dedicated his life to building a family and a legacy that will endure for generations. He was a devoted husband to Shirley,
a proud father to Sian and Gillian,
a treasured father-in-law to Ian and Ramzi,
and a doting grandfather to Morgan, Scott, Rhiannon, Oliver, and Abigail, as well as a proud
great-grandfather to four great- grandchildren, Luca, Soraya, Sadie and Effie. His life revolved around the love he had for his family, taking great pride in supporting and guiding us through life's ups and downs.
As a retired headteacher at Bishops Middle School in Chester and a Justice of the Peace, Grenville was a man of simple pleasures. He enjoyed spending time in the garden, beekeeping, having quiet evenings with family, or sharing a laugh over a cup of coffee.
His special ability to make everyone around him feel loved and valued left a lasting impact. Grenville was also an active member of his local church,
St. Andrew's in Tarvin and many village activities such as amateur dramatics.
He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

A funeral service to celebrate Grenville's life will be held at St. Andrew's Church, Church Street, Tarvin, CH3 8EB, on Thursday, March 20th, at 12:00 noon. This will be followed by cremation at Blacon Crematorium, Blacon Avenue, Blacon, Chester,
CH1 5BB at 1.20pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Grenville can be made to Alder Hey Children's Charity.

What a truly dignified and charming gentleman - dedicated to serving his community .
I have had the true privilege to know Grenville over many years - including the fun-filled Tarvin Theatre Group during the 1990’s.
As a fellow worshipper at St Andrew’s Tarvin, Grenville always had time for a friendly chat and sharing words of wisdom .
His devotion to Shirley as her health failed was exemplary .
What a man , he will be truly missed by so many .
