Miss Plater taught me maths at Thoresby High School for Girls during the 1960s. She was well liked and I have never forgotten her. She was very proud of her brother and used to speak of him. I moved away and lived in Southampton for 38 years. One day I was waiting for a bus in Woolston in the early 2000s and I got chatting to a woman who came from Hull and who had moved down to the area not far from where I was living at the time (she said her family followed later). The conversation steered towards our school days and I mentioned that I was taught by Miss Plater. She said that Miss Plater was also her teacher at another school. It is such a small world that we live in. Rest Easy, Janet S, near Portsmouth

I have just found that Miss Plater has passed away.
She was my form teacher in the sixties and was a truly memorable teacher. I hope that she had a wonderful life. Eileen Walker nee Hill

Whenever I remember my school days in the 1970s Miss Plater often pops into my memories, she was a wonderful kind teacher, who when she smiled her eyes lit up especially when she talked proudly about her family.

RIP Miss Plater
