Antony ArthurPOOK(Tony) 30.05.1928 - 04.06.2008 Daughters Angela, Marcia and families thank all who attended Tony's funeral, Humanist Celebration. Tony's brother Michael of Nottingham gave a Eulogy at Gadlys Chapel of Rest, Lisbeth Johns, British Humanist Association officiated. Tony and family were escorted into Llwydcoed Crematorium by New Orleans Jazz musicians. Family Eulogy was given by Angela Richards. Local champion cyclist holding Aberdare to Cardiff record 1953, Signalman at Abernant, Robertstown and Hirwaun, retired Police Officer South Wales Police. A lifelong passion for Steam Engines spending many happy years as Museum curator volunteer at Loughborough and Ruddington Steam Heritage Centres. Tony showed immense courage hiding his illness with his personality and sense of humour. The family would like to thank loyal friends too numerous to mention and our family for support, kindness, cards and floral tributes. Also GWR86J Club, Aberdare Road Club, Aberdare Clarion, Abercynon Road Club, Hirwaun YMCA Wheelers. Friends at Steam Heritage Centres. Simon Lewis, Gilbert & James Funeral Directors who helped create a fitting and memorable tribute. A memorial service and bench dedication to Tony will be held at Loughborough Steam Heritage Centre. A tree in his memory will be planted in Aberdare Park. He will be greatly missed by us all but his memory lives on in our hearts. A devoted and deeply loved father, grandfather and great-grandfather as well as a very special friend. Tony lit up our lives and will not be forgotten. He bequeathed a wealth of memories to all who knew and loved him.
