John was such a knowledgeable horticulturist and raconteur who was so adept at educating his fellow members of the Cornwall Bonsai Society. He was always the first to be questioned if a tree species was in doubt or questionable. We were all lucky to have him in our midst.

Brian will be sadly missed by many people involved with bonsai in Cornwall.
I and my wife Anne used to love meeting up with him on our visits to the Cornwall bonsai society. And John giving us a personalised tour of Trebah gardens to which he spent hours on his Camelia collection.
Such a great character who contributed greatly to not only bonsai but horticultural in general.
Rest in peace
