Thomas LaytonROBERTSThomas Layton Roberts died on the 14th June 2017 surrounded by his loved ones at his home in Langland after a short battle with brain cancer. Layton was a father, a maverick, a husband, a trailblazer, an entrepreneur, a bampa, a boss, a story-teller, a deal-maker, a workaholic, a classic car collector, a charismatic leader, a fierce protector, a master negotiator, a prankster extraordinaire, a relentless phone ringer, a friend to many, a country music aficionado, and an all-round inspiration. He lived life just how it was meant to be lived; never missing an opportunity, never shirking a challenge, never giving less than 100% and never walking away. We were lucky to learn many valuable lessons from Layton during his 83 years: preparation is the key to everything, your word is your bond, the camera never lies, treat others as you would like to be treated and don't put off until tomorrow what you can do today. He also taught us all the value of humility, hard work and that with enough self-belief you can achieve the impossible. He loved his life, his family, his business, reading the papers, Bacardi and coke (no ice), Willie Nelson, travelling, vintage cars, good laughs and great company. If you were lucky enough to be touched by TLR's love or friendship please celebrate your good fortune by remembering him - a unique and utterly brilliant one-of-a-kind. Layton's funeral service will take place on Friday 23rd June at 1pm in St Peter's Church, Newton and then at 2.30pm in Margam Crematorium. No flowers or donations please, just lots of happy memories.
