My beautiful Nan was the most loving, caring and kind-hearted person anyone could ever wish to know. There was truly nothing she wouldn’t do for me. She would make me clothes, make sure I was never hungry, and always put everyone else before herself. In fact, the only time I’ve ever really put weight on was during the 12 months I lived with her – I even remember putting my jacket on one day and it ripped! We laughed so much about that.
Some of my happiest memories are of spending our weekends together, wandering around town, enjoying afternoon teas and going out for lunch. Before I moved to Spain, I saw my Nan every single day. I simply loved being in her company. She gave me a feeling of comfort, love and happiness that is impossible to put into words.
She had the best sense of humour too. Whenever I got dressed up for a night out in a short dress, she’d smile and say, “Have you been in my wardrobe again?” It’s something I’ll always hear in my head and smile about.
The holidays we shared with Nan and Grandad are memories I will treasure forever. No matter how old I got, she always wanted to know every detail of my day – how I got to work, which train I caught, what time I arrived, what I’d been doing and how work was going. She took such a genuine interest in my life because she cared so deeply.
Through every difficult time, she was always there with love, support and reassurance. I will forever be grateful for the unconditional love she gave me and for the incredible memories we shared.
Nan was truly one in a million. She was simply the best, and I will miss and love her for the rest of my life.
