I’ve just heard the very sad news of Gerald’s passing.

Gerald was an absolute gentleman who took me and my friends under his wing as our Cubs leader back in the late 90s. We stayed in touch for many, many years afterwards and became great friends, something I’ll always be grateful for.

Gerald was the kind of man who would do absolutely anything to help others, especially his beloved St Andrew’s Church in Cherry Hinton. Whether it was helping during church services or looking after the church grounds, he always gave his time so generously. I know just how much pride and passion he had for keeping the grounds looking their very best.

My nana and grandad are buried there, and I always took that extra bit of comfort knowing Gerald was looking after the place. The grounds were always immaculate, and that was a true reflection of the care and dedication he put into everything he did.

He will be sadly missed, not just by me, but by the whole community, especially everyone connected with St Andrew’s Church.

Gerald, you were one of life’s true gentlemen, and I feel very lucky to have known you and to have called you my friend.

Rest in peace, Gerald. You served your community and lived your life so well. You’ll never be forgotten. ❤️

From your good old friend,

Melv ❤️
