EstherROSEIn Loving Memory of Esther Rose

Rose sadly passed away peacefully at home on 1st September 2026, surrounded by love, with her daughter Gillian, son-in-law Alan and granddaughter Lucy by her side.

A devoted mum to Stephen, Graham, David and Gillian, a much-loved sister to Russell and late brother Raymond & Sister Rena, a treasured Nanna Rose to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Rose was at the heart of her family and will be missed more than words can say.

Those who knew Rose will remember her warmth, her character and her love of the simple things that brought her happiness. She enjoyed her bingo and horse racing, and had a creative side too, with a love of painting.

But perhaps some of the happiest memories will be of Rose enjoying a good song and a dance. She loved a sing-along, especially to Penny Arcade, and was always fond of the songs of Daniel O'Donnell. These are the little things that will bring a smile whenever her family and friends think of her.

Rose leaves behind many precious memories that her family will treasure always. Although she is no longer with us, the love she gave and the memories she created will remain in the hearts of everyone who was fortunate enough to know her.

A celebration of Rose's life will take place at West Lancashire Crematorium, Pippin Street, Burscough, on Friday 25th September 2026 at 1:30pm. Please wear pink or a splash of pink to reflect Rose's wishes for a bright celebration.

Family and friends are warmly invited to share their favourite memories, stories and photographs of Rose, you can upload here, helping to celebrate the life of a very special lady who meant so much to so many.

Family flowers only, please. Donations in Rose's memory would be gratefully received for Dementia UK. Donations and enquiries to Wendy & Claire at Hope Funeral Care, 5 Church Street, Southport, PR9 0QS.
Tel: 01704 616448.

Rest peacefully, Rose.
Forever loved, forever missed, and never forgotten.

Nanna Rose! We’ve been partying together since I was born. Those parties we had at JameS Brooke Road were some of the best. And then the party continued when I grew up and I came to visit you in Southport. We would always go out to the volley have a few drinks sing some songs. I still continue to party and even though you may not be physically there, you’re there. Thank you for always looking after us and showing us how to have a good time. I miss you. I love you. CRACKER!

Hi my name is Claire I’ve worked at Birch Abbey for nearly 5 years as a Laundry Assistant and moved to Activity Coordinator at the beginning of the year. Rose was a big part of the reason I moved roles , I spent a lot of time with Rose through those years even just calling in to put her clean laundry away , having many chats and a brew and generally just being there for her needs. As an Activity Coordinator we spent more time together , she always was willing to join in to whatever we were doing and always wanted the heads up with what was going on during the week so she could prepare herself. No matter what it was she always had a go! even if it was out of her comfort zone 😬 I’m going to miss her dearly 💔 Rose was a massive part of Birch Abbey , her enthusiasm, personality and warm smile will leave a big hole. (Sorry not very good with words) Goodnight Rose ..Rest in Peace 😘
