IvorSMITHIt is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ivor Smith.

A much-loved dad to Nicky, adored grandad to James and Oliver, dear father-in-law to Ian and loving brother to Anne and Carol.

Ivor was popular and sociable, known for his wonderful sense of humour, kind heart and caring nature. Always willing to do anything for anyone, he was a true friend to many and someone who loved nothing more than good company, a chat and a laugh.

A keen boxer in his younger years, Ivor loved hearing about the boxing adventures of his grandsons, James and Oliver, who shared his passion for the sport.

He had a love of adventure, particularly riding his beloved Harley-Davidson, including memorable journeys through the battlefields of France and Belgium. He also had a special place in his heart for Spain, where he enjoyed spending six wonderful months with Jan.

Ivor will be remembered for his warmth, generosity, laughter and the many friendships he made throughout his life.

He will be deeply missed by his family, his many friends and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Forever loved, fondly remembered and never forgotten.

Ivor's funeral service will be held at Markeaton Crematorium (Main Chapel) on Friday 23rd October 2026 at 13:30pm.

Following the service, we warmly invite you raise a glass and share more memories of Ivor at The Hollybrook, Hollybrook Way, Rykneld Road, Derby, DE23 3TZ.

Donations made in lieu will be sent to Help for Heroes.

Ivor was such a kind lovely man. We have such dear memories of him.
He dropped everything and rushed round tools in hand when we had a burst pipe. Always happy to help in our time of need.
Rest in peace Ivor.
Love and thoughts with Ian Nicky and the boys. Hope you’re many wonderful memories help you through this v sad time. Love Al and family xxx

Oh my goodness.. Ivor stand up head down arms straight and shoulders up.. then swing!! Don’t look up!! Ivor & I met at the Middle Bell in Barton & decided to take up golf!! We had many great times but sadly never a hole in one. RIP Ivor .. x
