I was going through some drawers a found the little memory box of when I had my first baby nearly 30 years ago and the tape measure that she was measured with was there with the name of my midwiafe.. Dawn Suffolk
She was an angel to me that day and her gentle support and kindness helped me survive a drawn out traumatic experience.
I remember her saying “see you in 2 years” when I set off to go home. I laughed and said- NEVER again! “Haha yes ok then, I’ve heard that before”
Well of course she was right, 5 years later I had a second daughter (I lived in Cardiff at the time and had her there)
Another 3 years I was back in Stafford about to have my 3rd daughter and a midwife popped her head round the curtains and said “told you so”
I was so shocked that after 9 years she remembered me!! She said that I stuck in her mind because I had such a crappy time but never swore and was so brave ( didn’t feel it) and my daughter was the most beautiful baby who despite the traumatic prolonged entrance into the world scored an impressive 9 on the algae score!
She said she’d pop back to see me later when I’d given birth and she kept her word and did.
I was so very sad to hear that Dawn has passed away. After finding that box I was hoping to find her online and say” hi do you remember me, after saying never again I ended up having a 4th daughter!!!”
So it’s a very belated goodnight Dawn, the most beautiful soul who supported me a my most difficult time and I’m forever grateful.
Sleep tight
Love Lucy ( and baby Amelia (29 now) and her 3 not so little sisters) ❤️❤️

A special friend is hard to find, hard to lose and impossible to forget.

Dawn, I will always treasure the memories of our super lunches and all the laughs we shared.
Having shared an office with Dawn over many years I can attest to all the tributes. Dawn was the kindest, generous spirit person, with a wicked sense of humour. I will miss you...Mx

Our thoughts are with your Mum & Dad, Tony, Rachel, Matt and their families.
