Phyllis MayTWISSPhyllis (Phyl) May Twiss passed away peacefully on 21st May 2025, aged 96, following a short illness at Cann House, Tamerton Foliot. The last sibling of her family generation, mother to Lynne and Phillip, and loving grandma to Phoebe Rose; her family and many friends will miss her greatly. Phyllis was a proud, born and bred Plymothian, who was keen to visit places away from the city whenever she could, but never happier than when returning home. She was embedded in the community life of Plympton and, for many years, played a very active part in a number of activities and organisations, making a positive contribution in everything she was involved with. A celebration of her life and funeral service will be held at The Park Crematorium, Ceremony Room 1, 205 Merafield Road, Plymouth PL7 1UQ at 1.00 pm on Monday, 9th of June. Family flowers only and please feel free to wear bright colours if attending.

So many lovely memories of Aunty Phyl. So grateful for all the help she gave me with my family history research. I remember she took me on a 'guided' family history tour, mainly on foot - all over Devonport, up and around Union Street, all around the Hoe and down to her 'secret place' on the Barbican.
We walked miles. She was 86 at the time!!!
Will miss her greatly.

I feel so grateful for the special moments I had with my Great Aunty Phyl - throughout my childhood and, later, with my own son too. I will always treasure the letters and stories she shared with me. I’ll never forget her visit to my flat in Bath, where she outplayed us all at bowling on the Xbox - a real sport and an inspiration. I will miss her dearly.

Aunty Phyl contributed to the Plympton community for over half a century and all in the days pre computers so entirely physically manual and would not relish publicity but in my tribute as recognition of her service.
She dedicated herself to the Wives Club and was a founder member of the Harewood House Community Tea Rooms
I am featuring a published piece which she had agreed to.

Goodbye Aunty Phyl. A force of nature, a committed community worker, an incredibly fit walker and most of all lover of all family occasions. This one from Marysia's wedding.
