Denzil Kenneth JefferyWATERSThe funeral has taken place at St Day Chapel of Denzil Kenneth Jeffery Waters, aged 88 of Trefula Farm, Redruth. The Reverend Jenny Lockwood officiated, followed by a private committal at Treswithian Downs Crematorium. Denzil passed away peacefully at Frances Bolitho Residential Home, Penzance on 20th February 2025. Denzil was born on 19th June 1936 at Creegbrawse Farm, Twelveheads then when Denzil was 3, the family moved to Trefula Farm, Redruth. Denzil's brother, Brian, came along in 1947. He was a much-welcomed brother to Denzil. Denzil married Charlotte in 1959 and they had 3 children, Yvonne, Susan, and Harvey. Later they were delighted to have five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Denzil went to Hayle Grammar School where he met other farmers sons, who remained good friends for the rest of his life. Following this, he returned home to work on the family farm at Trefula. Denzil was an active member of Redruth Young Farmers Club, holding the office of Chairman and taking part in numerous events, County Rally, etc. including gate-making and binder transporter competition. Denzil became a dairyman, delivering milk to around 600 houses in Truro. He also worked contracting for various local farmers. He was an active member of both the National Farmers Union and the National Dairyman's Association. Denzil was very much a family man and loved spending time with his family. His grandchildren remember fondly that Grampa would take them all on a tractor ride when they visited the farm. The Grandsons carried on that tradition by giving him his final tractor and trailer ride and were also the bearers. In his later years, he spent time in Trefula Nursing Home, until it closed, and was looked after very well by the dedicated staff. He was then transferred to Frances Bolitho Home in Penzance for the last three months, where he had equally good care. Denzil will be remembered for his love of farming and his family values. He will be sadly missed by all his family and friends. Family mourners were - Charlotte Waters, Wife; Yvonne & Norman Tonkin, Daughter and Son-in-law; Sue, Daughter; Harvey & Tina, Son and his girlfriend; Ryan and Claire, Grandson and Wife; Ben and Xanthia plus Freddie, Grandson and partner, plus Great Grandson; Dale and Beth, Grandson and Wife; Jeff and Taylor, Grandson and Wife. Many more family, friends and neighbours were also in attendance. The family would like to thank Carlyon Funeral Directors for their excellent care of Denzil and their dedication to arranging the funeral he deserved. The family would also like to thank everyone for their cards and kindness at this sad time. A retiring collection was held for donations in Denzil's memory for RABI, the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution which supports farmers. A total of £553.82 was raised.
