RuthWHITEWHITE Ruth.October 18, 1918 – September 9, 2014. Ruth passed away peacefully at The Glebe Centre in Ottawa, Canada. She was predeceased by Louis, her beloved husband of 62 years and her brothers Ronald and John. Loving mother to Christopher (Christine), Shannon (Lennart) and Stephen (Christine). She adored her grandchildren: Colin, Britta (Ruben), Amanda, Nik, Andrew, Charlotte, Meghan, Katie and Rachel. She is survived by her cousin, Thelma, and sisters-in-law Jean and June, as well as nieces and nephews. Ruth and her family lived in Shackleford for over 30 years. She was a proud officer in the WAAF during the Second World War and a long-time member of the Air Force Association of Canada. Ruth and Louis arrived in Canada from England in 1970 and settled near Toronto; she went back to school and owned a nursery school for many years. She was a long-time volunteer at various long-term care homes and at schools in Toronto. Ruth had a passion for gardening, reading, travelling and, most of all, visits with her grandchildren. Warm thanks to the caring 5th floor staff at the Glebe Centre, Ottawa. A donation to a charity of your choice would be appreciated. Tributes and condolences may be made at mcevoy-shields.com.
