MildredWHITTLE(nee Sanderson) It is with a great sadness that we announce that Mildred (Mil) Whittle of Great Harwood, lost her bravely fought battle against cancer, at home, on Saturday, December 30, aged 75 years, with her daughter and son by her side. Mil was a much loved and devoted mum to Melanie and Edward, a cherished and adored grandma to Jack, Evie and Ribble the dog, loving wife of the late John Whittle, beloved sister to Lynne and an auntie, cousin, sister-in-law and friend to many. Mil grew up in Rishton and attended St Peter and St Paul’s Primary School, St Hilda’s High School in Blackburn and St Osyth’s College in Essex. She then settled in Great Harwood and secured her first teaching role at St James’ Primary School in Clitheroe, before moving on to other primary schools in the area throughout the course of her career. Mil loved gardening, baking, music and singing, but enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her children and grandchildren - they were her world and she was at her happiest when she was with them. A service will be held on Monday, January 22 at 1pm at Accrington Crematorium. Family flowers only please, but donations are gratefully welcomed in memory of Mil for the Rosemere Cancer Centre, Preston and Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, Liverpool where she received compassion, kindness and exceptional care. Further enquiries and donations can be made to Great Harwood Funeral Service, 3, Clayton Street, Great Harwood. Telephone 01254 886866
