I have known Gill half my life and she has been a wonderful friend, mentor and inspiration. We met 19 years when I started my apprenticeship at Dimensons. A shift with Gill would always fly by, talking about the adventures she’d had abroad and her love for Turkey, the early morning swim sessions with her daughter Sam and generally just putting the world to rights. As my career and life moved on, I lost touch with Gill and was saddened when I found out about the ordeal with her health and how hers and her family’s life had changed. But Gill, always stubborn and a fighter made sure it didn’t beat her. Making sure she had her nails painted and her hair cut just right she was still the beautiful lady we all knew. Over the years I kept in touch with Sam, seeing her grow in to a beautiful young woman, (the double of her mum) having her beautiful daughter Eve, who meant the world to Gill and her gorgeous wedding. More recently Gill and her love for Avon meant that our paths crossed again, popping round for a brew, laughing about her random words list in her note book, looking through pictures on her phone of Sam’s newest hair style and colour and Eves art work and catching up on life in general. Her husband Martin, has been her rock. While making sure Gill was able to live life to the fullest, moving and adapting their home, making sure Gill got to her hair appointments, being the Avon treasurer, as well as making his own beautiful wooden creations that Gill would always so proudly show me.
The family have faced so many battles over the years, but together they are strong and have always fought hard to make each day count.
Gill may have passed but she will most definitely never be forgotten, her memories will live on through these beautiful tributes and all of her family and friends for years to come. My love and strength to you all xx
