Grief can be a very lonely and isolating thing to experience, and it is often very difficult to talk about how you are feeling at that time. However, it is important to know that you are not alone. So many people out there are going through similar experiences and emotions, and some of them are even writing about what they are going through and putting it online for everyone to see.

If you are struggling to talk about your grief and would benefit from hearing about the experiences of others, then here are five blogs about grief that you might find helpful.

What’s Your Grief

What’s Your Grief is a grief education and resource site that hosts hundreds of articles on everything from how to support someone who is grieving, to learning about grief through movies. There’s plenty of personal blogs too where people have shared their own stories, such as ‘The Grief and Joy of Being a Mother While Grieving a Mother’. They also have a sister site called Grief in Six Words where people share their own feelings of grief using just six words, and you can even submit your own.

Cruse Bereavement Support

As a UK registered charity, Cruse Bereavement Support are there to help people through one of the most painful times in life. On their blog they cover a wide array of topics, some of which are more informative than they are relatable, but there is some real value to be found from articles such as ‘It’s complicated – grief on Mother’s day when your relationship was difficult’ or ‘New relationships after the death of a partner’.

Modern Loss

Modern Loss claim to hold candid conversations about grief, and after reading a few myself I can confirm that statement to be true. ‘Was She Sick?’ is a brutally honest and eye opening account of someone who lost their sister to depression, while ‘Laundry, Before and After’ is a heart wrenching story of a mum who lost her daughter to cancer that somehow has a real warmth to it. There is a lot to discover here, so spend some time having a read and I am sure you will find something that you can relate to.

On The Way To Dying

Coming at the topic from a different angle, On The Way To Dying tries to help people prepare themselves a little better for death, and so manage the grief before it even starts. A lot of their blog posts are even available in audio form, so not only can you read the article ‘Is my mom dying?’, but you can listen to it too. ‘Grief is not selfish’ is a particularly good post if you are feeling alone in your grieving.

Did you know that grief doesn’t have to be about death? The article ‘Grieving a sense of belonging’ on the Let’s Talk About Loss website tells us that grief can be about loss of home or belonging, and ‘A different kind of grief’ is about grieving the loss of one's fertility. Let’s Talk About Loss covers such a wide range of topics around loss and grief, whether it’s about making new friends through grief or how to be a good friend to someone who is grieving, you are sure to find something that resonates with you.
