Want to raise money for a good cause, but don’t know how? Here are some popular fundraising ideas to help get you started.
Sponsored Walk/Run
A very popular way to fundraise, as it can be taken on individually or as a team and can even get you fit at the same time. Take on a long walk, or enter a marathon event and get friends and family to sponsor or even join you. This can be a really rewarding experience and a great way to honour a good cause.
Bring and Buy Sale
If you can gather enough sellable items from your loft or from your neighbours, you can do some good charity fundraising by putting on a sale. You could invite other people to join in too and make a day of it. People are more willing to pay a fair price for second hand items if they know it is for a good cause so events like this can raise a lot of money.
Coffee Morning
Famous for its association with Macmillan Cancer Support, a coffee morning is a fantastic way to raise money for any good cause. Guests can bake cakes or other treats and everyone can enjoy a good chat while raising money. What better way to spend a morning!
Dress Up/Down Day
If you have to wear a uniform to school or work, you can approach whoever is in charge and ask to have a day where people can wear what they like. Dress down day in the office, or fancy dress at school. There are so many possibilities here for themes or fun fancy dress ideas. Each person can donate to the relevant cause and lots of money can be raised.
Charity Car Wash
If you like to have a little fun with water, you will certainly find this idea the easiest way to fundraise. Along with volunteers like you, choose a community place, a car park, or a door to door option. Offer to wash cars for a reasonable charge, and you will see people flocking to get it done. You can also make this a fun event too by adding fancy dress or even music into the mix.
Give Something Up
Want to break a habit? Get sponsored for giving something up or donate the money you’re saving. It might be alcohol, cigarettes, coffee or sweet treats. Set yourself a time scale and ask for donations to your charity. The more difficult the better!
Raffle
Holding a raffle is a great way to raise money for charity. Get friends and family to donate prizes, or you can ask local businesses if they will donate a prize to make it more enticing. Charge a ticket price and draw winners at a particular time or date. The more tickets you buy, the more likely you are to win, so you can get some great contributions for your charity this way.
Do Something Daring
People love sponsoring others to do something they would never dare do themselves! Maybe abseiling, bungee jumping or skydiving? If you’re willing to do it, you can make a lot of money for your charity and experience something amazing at the same time.
The possibilities really are endless, and you can find all sorts of great ideas to suit you or the charity you want to support, online. Most charities have lots of fundraising ideas on their websites too, so that can be a great place to start. Good luck!
